6 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Lake Kivu Safari

The 6-days Rwanda Gorilla and Lake Kivu safari will give you a once-in-a-lifetime experience with an unforgettable safari that will have you hiking the Mountain Volcanoes in search of the rare Silverback mountain gorillas. You will also experience a Kigali city tour, visit the Genocide Museum, enjoy a fishing experience, and relax on the beach of Lake Kivu. The 6-Days Rwanda Gorilla and Lake Kivu can be combined with Tanzania or Kenya’s great wildlife safaris. 

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali airport.

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and after passing through the immigration process, you will be welcomed by our safari driver who will brief you about your 6 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Lake Kivu Safari. You will then be transferred to your booked accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay are at the hotel.

Day 2: Visit Kigali Genocide Memorial & Transfer to Musanze: Travel time +2 hrs

Today, after having your early morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to visit the Kigali genocide memorial grounds, which honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building. You will be able to watch and listen to some video clips from some of the survivors. Later you will drive to Musanze on a magnificent route to your booked accommodation. There you will catch up with a late lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and preparing for the next day’s trekking. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Have an early breakfast and then get briefed by the park officials about the rules of visiting the park. After, enter the jungle to search for the shy mountain gorillas and enjoy exploring their homes. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit in close proximity and visit with these great apes for a whole hour. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as hiking shoes, packed food and water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a hut. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or a whole day, depending on the movement of these primates. After this gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda, you will have an incredibly memorable experience for life. In the afternoon you are free to relax or visit the city.

Day 4: Transfer to Gisenyi: Travel time +2hrs

After your early morning breakfast, you will transfer to Gisenyi, with an en-route visit to Roze car house. At Roze Car House, learn about the beautifully hard work of this amazing woman. Followed by a lunch at your lodge. The afternoon is scheduled with enough time to relax. In the evening, head for the fishermen’s experience, and learn about how the local community fishes.

Dinner and overnight are at the lodge.

Day 5: City tour of Rubavu & Relaxation

After breakfast, you will head to Kimbiri for a coffee plantation and tour experience. On your way back, you will head for the city tour of Rubavu including visiting the Atelier de Poupee, a community artwork project run by a group of women who are mostly widows. They make a variety of fine artwork, like handbags, wallets, dolls, and more. You can get one for yourself at a reasonable price. Later back at the hotel, there is time for relaxation and dinner before an overnight.

Day 6: Airport Transfer

After breakfast, you will be driven to Kigali, with an en-route lunch, and then head to the Kigali Airport to catch up with your evening flight back home.
